Find your Best Friend at the Antioch Animal Services Center

Antioch Animal Services is dedicated to promoting animal welfare and public awareness which results in humans and animals living together in harmony.

Last week, 29 dogs, which included some harder to place senior/medical cases, and a litter of 10 puppies, have landed safely in foster homes with local rescues. Twenty eight of the kittens and cats from the shelter were also fortunate to find themselves with rescues this week. A special thanks to all below for taking in our canines and felines:

  • Animal Rescue Recon
  • East Bay SPCA
  • K9 Paw Prints Rescue
  • Muttville

There were a few adoptions this week including 3 ducks that flew the coop to a great farm! Β  Β

Antioch Animal ServicesΒ will continue to offer Reduced Adoption Fees of $25 on all Cats and Dogs through the Month of September!!!
The $25 Reduced Fee includes: spay/neuter, microchip and initial vaccinations (Antioch residents must purchase $19 dog license at time of adoption).

If you cannot adopt, consider fostering an animal in need or volunteering at the shelter. Β If interested in volunteering, please come into the shelter for an application, we’ll invite you to the next orientation!

About the Antioch Animal Service Center:

The Antioch Animal Services Center is responsible for the enforcement of Local and State Laws relating to the care, control, and protection of animals and of our citizens.Β  Officers’ responsibilities include picking up and confining stray, sick, injured, vicious and dead animals; issuance of dog licenses; patrolling the City streets; control of animal nuisance problems and animal euthanasia.

The Animal Shelter also provides adoption, volunteer, and education programs. All the animals are housed indoors in a heated/air conditioned facility.Β  Special features include:Β

  • A room in which prospective pet owners can meet and interact with the animalsΒ
  • A fenced exercise yardΒ  Β

Antioch Animal Services is unique in that we only serve Antioch residents and do so 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The cities surrounding Antioch rely on Contra Costa County Animal Services for their animalΒ related needs.Β  The City of Antioch operates a full service Animal Shelter. We provide care for the lost, homeless and unwanted animals found or surrendered within the City of Antioch.Β  We work closely with local animal welfare organizations to increase the number of animals that are placed into loving homes.Β
